Among vaccines, the search volume for Sputnik V from Russia is currently the highest. The active demand for the Russian vaccine has changed dramatically in recent days since it was scientifically proved to be rather effective. Many European nations now want to use the vaccine too. The well-known vaccines AstraZeneca, also known as Covishield, and Moderna which is produced in Switzerland follow in second and third place. Behind the Western vaccines, the Indian vaccine Covaxin and the Chinese representative CoronaVac are also extremely popular search terms among all Swiss online users.

While vaccinations in Switzerland are making only slow progress, the search demand for the various vaccines of the partly well-known manufacturers is higher than ever before. The reduced efficacy of some vaccines is additionally fueling this online demand. In addition, all Swiss people are currently sitting in front of their PCs or smartphones waiting for their vaccination.

The online market researchers of ArgYou.com investigate the popularity of different vaccines and vaccine manufacturers on the Internet. To do this, they measure the average search volumes of the various keywords over the last 30 days. The search queries of around 6.9 million users in Switzerland on all internet channels are measured systematically.

An interesting observation concerns the vaccine of the multinational merger of Pfizer, BioNTech and Fosun Pharma. While Pfizer, BioNTech and Moderna are unsurprisingly among the most requested among vaccine manufacturers, the name of the vaccine Sputnik V occupies the first place and Comirnaty the last place among vaccines. This is probably due to the fact that the vaccine of Pfizer BioNTech is primarily searched for under the name of the manufacturing company. Here the focus of online interest is rather on the supplier than the actual name of the product.
